Our Doctor

Dr. Fredrick Korir is a graduate of University of Nairobi School of Medicine where he studied both his undergraduate medical and postgraduate degree in Ophthalmology. He is a specialist in Cornea and Anterior Segment from Aravind Eye Hospital, India where he did a one-year long term fellowship.

Dr. Korir has been practicing ophthalmology in Mombasa for the last 10 years at the Lighthouse for Christ Eye Centre treating large volumes of patients with varied eye conditions. While Dr. Korir is well versed with comprehensive ophthalmology, he enjoys practicing Cornea and Anterior segment specialty. He started the cornea clinic at Lighthouse and continues to run it performing corneal transplants regularly.

Dr. Korir has served in many leadership positions such as ophthalmology chief resident at The University of Nairobi, Medical Director Lighthouse for Christ Eye Centre and currently as the Chairman of the Ophthalmological Society of Kenya. He is an active member of the Education committee at The College of Ophthalmology of Eastern Central and Southern Africa (COECSA). He is an International Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Korir is passionate about eye donation, eye banking, ophthalmic education, and patient empowerment in their treatment.
